Obituary.

BRADLEY – Mary Rogers was born in New Jersey, April 12, 1852. She was married to Peter Bradley July 19, 1869. They came to Iowa in 1883, where they have since resided. This happy union was blessed with 14 children, viz: William, Charlie (of Clinton), Maude (of Dixon, Ill.,) Peter, Oscar, Abraham (of Clinton), Alice, John, Elizabeth, Mattie, Harry, Burton and Nellie; Daniel dying in infancy. The 13 children, together with the bereaved husband were present at the funeral and followed the remains to their final resting place. Besides these she leaves to mourn her death two brothers and one sister in New Jersey and two brothers in Bridgewater, Iowa. The deceased was an affectionate wife, a loving, indulgent mother, a firm believer in the Christian religion, a consistent church member. She always lived so that at any moment when her master called she would be ready to answer the summons.

For seven years she has been a patient sufferer from consumption, always bearing her great affliction with a light heart and without one word of complaint, until the angel of death called her in the early hours of March 28, 1901, when without a struggle her spirit returned to its maker. The home is left without a mother’s love and care, but what is our loss is her eternal gain.

Funeral services were held at the home on north Otto street, Sunday, March 31, at 2 p.m., when a large company of friends assembled to pay their last tribute to the departed and also to express their sympathy to the bereaved and sorrowing family. The remains were laid to rest in Mt. Hope cemetery, there to await the resurrection of the Just, Rev. D. F. Boomershine officiating.
