M. Nelson Suicides

Mike Nelson, the wagon maker, was found dead in bed at his home on Otto street late Sunday night.

His wife and children took the stage for Andrew on Saturday morning about nine o’clock to visit friends, and after assisting them to get started he went up town, was seen to return home and nothing more was seen of him, until found dead. Deceased was born in Denmark, March 20, 1851, and was 40 years of age. He came to Maquoketa in 1872 from Charlotte where he had worked at the trade of wagon making for a year after arriving in this country. In 1881 he was married to Christina Gosch and two bright children were born to them. Mr. Nelson prospered in his business, had a comfortable home, a good business and a couple of years ago built a large wagon shop. He was a man of pleasant manner, industrious habits and until recently of a cheerful disposition. His wife was notified of the death Monday morning and shocked with the sorrowful news she hastily returned from Andrew. On the afternoon of the same day the funeral occurred.
