April 8, 1941Funeral Services Held Monday for Edward W. Lange
Edward W. Lange, 71, passed away at his home on North Walnut street Friday at 11:45 p.m. following a two months illness.
Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at two o’clock at the Caron-Balster funeral home with Rev. H. D. Green, pastor of the Methodist church officiating, Junior Hicks sang, “Abide With Me” and “Beautiful Isle” accompanied at the piano by his mother, Mrs. Harry Hicks. Pall bearers were Sam Branscomb, John Strodhoff, Arch Patterson, Clyde Nims, Bert Shattuck, Geo McClellan and Albert J. Wurster. Interment was made in Mt. Hope cemetery.
Edward William Lange was born on Jan. 16, 1870, in Toronto, Canada, a son of Charles and Hannah Miller Lange. He was united in marriage to Katharine Louise Thomson on Sept. 25, 1890, and they observed their golden wedding anniversary last fall.
Left to mourn his loss are his wife, four sons, Carl Lange of Davenport; Edwin Lange of Clinton; Clyde Lange of Lowden, and Gilbert Lange of Maquoketa; three daughters, Mrs. Edith Gibson of Maquoketa; Mrs. Ruth Riley of Des Moines, and Miss Dorothy at home; also a grandson, Ronald Norton, who has made his home with his grandparents, since the death of his mother, Mrs. Jennie Lange Norton, twenty years ago.
Twenty other grandchildren and two great grandchildren; two brothers, Frank Lange of Sterling, Ill., and a sister, Mrs. Martha Foreman of Morrison, Ill., also survive.
