June 7, 1921Sarah Rosetta Watters, was born at Otter Creek, Sept. 15, 1875, and passed away at the City Hospital, Friday, June 3, 1921.
On November 22, 1905, she was united in marriage to Joseph M. Sawdey. Eight children were born to this union, one daughter, Elsie, died a few years ago. Seven children, Earl, Leona, Myron, Edward, Geneva, Clayton and Alfred are left with the husband to mourn the loss of a good and kind mother and wife.
Mrs. Sawdey’s illness dated back to about two months ago, which finally resulted in an operation, and in spite of all that medical care and loving hands could do, she entered the eternal sleep, which knows no awakening.
Five brothers, William Watters of Zwingle, Deloss Watters of Otter Creek, David of Fulton, Sam and Frank of Hurstville and five sisters, Mrs. Lewis Hesse of Holcomb, Wis., Mrs. Melvin Isbell, Maysville, Ia., Mrs. Sherman La Fayette, Welton, Ia., Mrs. Harry Hayes, Clinton, Ia., and the aged father, Wm. Watters and Mrs. Chris Vohringer of Maquoketa, also mourn her departure.
The mother, Mrs. Wm. Watters, one sister, Mrs. Henry Howell and one brother, Charles Watters, have preceded her in death.
Funeral services were held yesterday afternoon at Buchner’s chapel, with Rev. E. A. Lang officiating, and interment in Mt. Hope cemetery.
