COLLAMER – In this city on Thursday, April 10th, A. D. 1873, Jerome Collamer, aged 38 years and 5 months, by the accidental discharge of a pistol in his own hand.

He leaves behind him his aged and sorrow stricken parents. Leaving their home on the morning of that fatal day in his usual good spirits, he was brought back in the afternoon a lifeless corpse. “Truly in the midst of life we are in death.” We had not the pleasure of an intimate acquaintance with the deceased, but those who knew him well speak of him in terms of highest appreciation and praise as a man of retiring nature, of pure and generous impulses, who tred the paths of life with unsoiled feet, Long may the memory of his virtues linger in our remembrance through sympathy with heart-stricken friends and honor to the dead. The funeral was the largest we have attended in this city.
