March 3rd he removed from Otter Creek to the neighborhood of Zwingle where he purchased the A. R. Simpson farm on which place he resided until his death. P Biggins and Miss Mayme, all residing in the vicinity of Zwingle, also by two brothers, Michael and James of Otter Creek and sisters Mrs. S. C. Dinlinger and Mrs. J. Donovan of Wakonda, S. D., - and Mrs. J. Shanahan of Armour, S. D.

Mr. Slattery was a successful farmer, an honest and upright citizen and an industrious worker, but always found time to take an active part in either political or social affairs of the county, where he enjoyed meeting and conversing with old friends of whom he had a number in Jackson county, his former home, and in Dubuque county.
A large funeral procession following his remains to the cemetery. The funeral was held from the home Friday, Mar. 8th to Sylvia Services at the church were conducted by Rev. Garland, interment in cemetery nearby. The pallbearers were Messrs. Joseph Sweeney, Jas. Simpson, Jacob Kimmer, Fred Cuno, Jas. Shanahan and J. C. McCarthy. Friends extend sympathy to the family.
