Monday morning at about 3 o’clock, death claimed Mrs. Nicholas Kieffer, an aged lady resident of this city and one of the pioneers of Tete des Morts Township. Mrs. Kieffer, whose maiden name was Barbara Tennes, was a native of Mutfort, Luxembourg, Germany, where she was born July 16th, 1833, therefore she was in her seventy-second year at the time of her death. On February 16th, 1855, she was united in marriage to Mr. Nicholas Kieffer, who together with seven children, survive and mourn a devoted wife and mother. Four children preceded the mother to the Great Beyond. Those living are J. F. Kieffer, Mrs Lizzie Streff, Valentine Kieffer. Mrs. Alfred Lampe, Mrs. Anna Kieffer, Mrs. P. Manderscheid and Miss Lena, at home.
