Obituary.

BRADWAY- Charles Bradway was born in Silver Run, New Jersey, March 30, 1854. He came west with his father and family in 1861 and at the outbreak of the civil war his father and brother Edwin, enlisting. He returned to his native state, remaining until he was thirteen when he again came to Iowa. On May 6, 1879, he was married to Clara C. McCrum of Andrew, settling on a farm near Maquoketa where he lived until his death early on the morning of April 19, 1902, aged 43 years and 20 days. To this union were born five children – Zora L., Jessie H., Ruby I., Alta I., and Cora who passed out in infancy. These, with his wife, two brothers – Edwin of Maquoketa, Albert of Newport, Oregon, and one sister, Beulah of Peoria, Ill., are left to mourn the loss of a loving husband, a kind and indulgent father and an affectionate brother. He was an upright man, always ready and willing to do an act of kindness and will be greatly missed by his relatives, friends and neighbors. The funeral services were conducted by Mrs. J. M. Harvey at the Esgate school house at 9 o’clock Tuesday afternoon, April 22, and the body laid to rest in the Esgate cemetery.

TETER- Washington Teter, an old settler of Jackson county, passed out on his farm north of this city at 11:15 o’clock Friday morning, April 25, 1903. He was born in Morgan county, Ohio, in 1819 (over 82 years at death) and came to Iowa in 1851, settling on a farm where he continued to reside until his death. He leaves three sons – James, Jake and William, and a wife of a late marriage to mourn their loss. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. John Said at the church of the Latter Day Saints at 11 o’clock Sunday morning, with burial in Teter cemetery.

NISSEN- Hans Nissen died at his home east of town last Friday afternoon of pneumonia. His wife preceded him in February and six children are left orphans. The funeral services were held at the M. E. church in this city at 1 o’clock Monday afternoon.
