Died.

NIMS-Laura Jane Wilcox, youngest daughter of Caleb and Jane Wilcox, was born at Inosie near Windsor, Canada, May 30, 1852, and died at her home east of Maquoketa, March 14, 1911, aged 68 years, 9 months and 17 days. In 1856, she, with her parents came to Iowa. On Jan. 22, 1862 her mother died, and her father died in November, 1863. At the age of 12 years she went to Michigan but returned to Iowa in about a year where she spent the remainder of her life. On June 27, 1868, she was united in marriage with J. W. Nims. To this union were born eleven children, four boys and seven girls one girl dying in infancy and one son Herbert Lee, who met his death in a railroad accident at Minot, South Dakota, in 1906.

Mrs. Nims life was one of continued sacrifice, always forgetting self in her anxiety for the comfort of her family and friends. She became a Christian in early youth and some years ago united with the Wesleyan Methodist church. She had been in feeble health for a year but was not considered dangerously ill until a week before her death when she began to fail so rapidly, passing peacefully away Tuesday at 1:30 a.m. She leaves to mourn their loss, a husband and nine children, John M. of St. Paul, Minn., William of Maquoketa, Guy of Ekalaka, Mont., Rosalie, Nellie and Ruth at home, and Mrs. Anna Taylor of Hecla, South Dakota, Mrs. Mary Wright of Los Angeles, Cal., Mrs. Minnie Dague of Ekalaka, Mont. The latter three who were unable to be present.

Three brothers, Peter Wilcox of Lake City, Iowa, Melvin Wilcox of Maquoketa, and Thomas Wilcox of Bedford, Iowa, not present two sisters Mrs. Mary Prindle of Maquoketa and Mrs. Martha Van Emburgh of Maquoketa, and many other relatives and friends.

The funeral services were held at the home Saturday afternoon at 1:30 conducted by Rev. H. A. Dalrymple of the F. M. church, Maquoketa, and the remains were interred at Bridgeport cemetery.
