Edwin F. Beidler Dies Suddenly Tuesday Night
Death Follows Six Weeks of Failing Health – Funeral Services Friday

E. F. Beidler, 71, respected resident of Maquoketa for the past 16 years, died at his home on S. Matteson Ave. Tuesday at 8:20 p.m., following a serious illness of six weeks duration.

Edwin F. Beidler, son of H. W. and Rebecca Beidler, was born Jan. 2, 1860 in Berks county, near Hamburg, Pa. When seven years of age he came with parents and sister Agnes to Iowa and settled on a farm in Clinton county, eight miles east of Maquoketa, where he grew to young manhood.

He attended the Maquoketa high school and later took a business course at Davenport. For several years he taught school, later farming with his father. At the time of his marriage he moved to a farm nearby where he resided until 1915 when he and his family came to Maquoketa to make their home and care for his aged mother, who died in July, 1921. His father preceded him in death in Sept., 1909, and his sister Agnes in July, 1898.

Though not in the best of health for several years, it was not until six weeks ago that Mr. Beidler was taken seriously Ill. He rallied and was up and about the home until the time of his death, when he passed away in his chair at 8:20 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 15, aged 71 years.

Mr. Beidler was a member of the Masonic order of both Delmar and Maquoketa, and was mindful of its teachings and always a friend to the needy or needy cause.

On Feb. 10, 1892, he was united in marriage to Miss Ellen Ward of Delmar. Besides his wife he is survived by one son William N., two daughters, Mrs. Ruby Gisel and Mrs. Agnes Francois, all of this community; also three grandsons, Donald Gisel, Keith Francois and Edward Beidler. One daughter Mildred, passed away in August, 1912.

The funeral service will be held Friday afternoon at 1:30 o’clock from the home with the Rev. Geo. F. Barsalou officiating. Interment will be made in Mt. Hope cemetery, with the Masons in charge.
