DIED

THOMAS, Mrs. B.F.

Passed away Thursday March 9th, at 5:30 P.M., after an illness of many months. Mary E. Gallow was born in Newburgh, New York, July 1, 1839, and when at the age of eight years moved with her parents to Monticello, Minnesota, where on July 15, 1859, she was married to B. F. Thomas. They immediately removed to Andrew where they resided until 1881, when they removed to Maquoketa. In February, 1910, the husband died. The surviving children are B. F. Thomas of Omaha, W. G. Thomas of Cedar Rapids, Carrie Patterson of Maquoketa, and C. M. Thomas of Maquoketa. Mrs. Thomas was one among the old settlers of Maquoketa, and was always a devoted Christian woman, a faithful member of the Methodist Church, and a lady who had suffered the pains of ill health for many years, but with all had great sympathy for others who were sick or afflicted. She was a good mother and reared an upright family of daughters and sons.
Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at 3 o'clock from the home, Rev. A. L. Cook of the Methodist Church officiating. Interment was made in Mt. Hope Cemetery.
