Anna Gollobith, 95, Long-Time Resident, Dies; Rites Held

Last rites for one of Maquoketa’s oldest citizens and a life-long resident of Jackson county, Mrs. Anna Gollobith, 95, were held Thursday afternoon at two o’clock in the Haylock O’Hara funeral home. Mrs. Minnie Hegstrom, a Christian Science reader, officiated and interment was made in Mt. Hope cemetery.

Mrs. Gollobith died Tuesday evening in a Maquoketa nursing home. She was born June 11, 1860, at Monmouth, a daughter of the late Frank and Frances Butka. On Feb. 21, 1879, she was married to John Gollobith, who died in 1922.

A member of the Christian Science church, she is survived by one daughter, Mrs. T. J. (Mae) Foley of San Diego, Calif., and one son, Walter Gollobith of Davenport. Three grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren also survive.
