Death Summons H. K. Morehead

Howard K. Morehead, a prosperous young farmer and stock dealer of this community died Monday evening at 8 o’clock at his home northwest of town following a ten days illness of pneumonia and complications.

For the past three days two skilled nurses and physicians have been constantly at his bedside striving to overcome the disease, and although all that loving hands and medical skill could do was done to stay the hand of death he passed away Monday evening.

Howard K. Morehead was born March 4, 1888 at Iron Hill and had always made his home in that vicinity. In 1907 he was married to Miss Frances Sutton and they were the happy parents of nine children who with their mother survive, namely: Glen, Camilla, Max, Blair, Blaine, Althea, Roy, Faye and Lois Darlene. He is also survived by his father, Walter Morehead, two brothers, Roy of Maquoketa, Theodore of Iron Hill, and two sisters, Mrs. Albert Williams and Miss Lulu Morehead both of Iron Hill. One sister, Mrs. Delbert Sutton preceded him in death.

Mr. Morehead was a kind, loving father, good neighbor and friend, and loyal citizen, who will be greatly missed in the community.

When a young man he taught in the rural schools of the county for two years and later took up the occupation of farming.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at East Iron Hill church, the Rev. J. F. Daake officiating. Burial will be made in East Iron Hill cemetery.
