Rev. John Said mourns the sudden death of his wife, Esther Dutton Said, which occurred on Monday evening at her home near Iron Hills while she was engaged in answering a message over the telephone. The funeral occurred Thursday from the Advent church at East Iron Hills, interment in the churchyard there, Rev. Mr. Smith, of Rockford, Illinois, conducting them. Thus briefly have we told the tragic closing of a useful Christian life. Born to Rev. and Mrs. R. B. Dutton at Carthage, Illinois, on August 7, 1819. Esther Dutton grew to charming womanhood. She came to Iowa when a child and on October 28, 1865 became the happy bride of Rev. John Said, a life companion who shared his burdens, his trials, his disappointments with him making them lighter day by day, as well as the joys the blessings, the comforts that came to them as the years sped by. Five children came to bless this union and with the desolate husband remain to mourn the death of a loving, devoted and kind mother. All of her friends who are very many, regret that God has called her hence before it seems fitting for her useful life to end, while yet she seemed so necessary here, and deep sympathy is felt for those most sorely bereaved.
