DIED
Near this village, on the morning of the 17th inst., after an illness of four months, Mrs. SYLVIA D., wife of LYMAN BATES, aged 40 years.
Mrs Bates was a native of Cortland County, New York. In 1839 she was married to Mr. Bates, and with him commenced a pioneer life in this then uncultivated country. She was the mother of five children, who now with her husband, mourn her loss. She was a moral and virtuous woman, an affectionate wife, a tender mother, and was highly esteemed and respected by all who had the pleasure of her acquaintance.
