Laura M. Watson Kennedy DeDecker, 89, of 700 35th St. Marion, died Friday morning at Willow Gardens Care Center following a long illness.

She was born December 11, 1894 in Maquoketa. She married Ralph Kennedy who died in 1945. On December 22, 1945, she married John A. DeDecker in Cedar Rapids. He died in 1976.

Mrs. DeDecker was a retired beauty operator and for 50 years was the owner of the Kennedy Beauty Shop. She also was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Poetry Club of Cedar Rapids, Milwaukee Women's Club, Women's Relief Corps and the Midwest Federation of Chaparrel Poets, Iowa Division. She was also a Red Cross volunteer.

Surviving are two sons, Robert Kennedy and Kenneth Kennedy, both of Marion; two sisters, Mrs. Virginia Evans of Davenport and Mrs. May Belle Jones of Dallas, Texas; and two brothers, Leo Watson of Des Moines and Wiliam Watson of Maquoketa.

There was a cremation with private services. Internment Mount Calvary Cemetery. Murdoch Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
