Maquoketa Record, December 5, 1906:
A double funeral occurred in this city Thursday when Mrs. J.P. Brown, aged 72, and her daughter, Mrs. Lena McCaw, were buried in the Sutton Cemetery near Iron Hills. Mrs. Brown fell and fractured her hip on Saturday of last week. She lingered until Tuesday, when she died from the injury. Mrs. McCaw was lying dangerously ill. Her mother's death affected her and she soon passed away. Funeral occurred Thursday morning, Rev. Miller conducting the services.
