RITES HELD FOR BELLEVUE MAN
KENNETH ROEDER FATALLY INJUREDBellevue
Funeral service for Kenneth M. Roeder, 33, who was killed instantly in a motorcycle crash here Saturday, was held Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. from the Kempter funeral home to St. Joseph's Catholic church. The requiem solemn high mass was sung by the Very Rev. J.E. Linkenmeyer, celebrant, Rev. E. J. Kurth, deacon, and Rev. F. C. Banning, sub-deacon. Sermon was delivered by Rev. J.E. Linkenmeyer. Burial was made in St. Joseph's cemetery. The American Legion was in charge of the commital services and accorded military honors. The Navy Mother's club and the American Legion Auxiliary marched in a body. Pallbearers were Arnold Hachman, John Schwirtz, Clarence Sieverding, Forrest Doland, Russ Smith and Paul Kempter, jr. Honorary pallbearers were Herman J. Kueter, C.C. Bisdorf, Theo Neu, Ben Mootz, V.I. Rule and V. Kenneth Yearger.
Kenneth M. Roeder, son of Mrs. Margaret Mootz and the late Frank Roeder was born in Jackson county December 14, 1914. He has been a resident of Bellevue since 1919, after his father passed away the family moved to Bellevue from Andrew. He married Florence Burkert on June 16, 1936, at the Sacred Heart church in Maquoketa. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the American Legion. He served two years in the U.S. Navy. For the past several years he has been a general contractor with the Roeder Bros. Construction Co. here.
He is survived by his wife, a son Charles; a daughter, JoAnn; his mother, Mrs. Margaret Mootz; four brothers, Harry, Clarence, Orville and Floyd, all of Bellevue. He was preceded in death by his father and one half-brother, Carlos Mootz.
