Maquoketa Record, June 4, 1907:
Mr. and Mrs. Charles Betzenderfer mourn the death of their charming daughter, Helen, aged 8 years, which occurred last evening from diptheria. The loved one was buried this morning in Mt. Hope Cemetery without funeral. Deep sympathy is felt on every hand for the bereaved family in their awful affliction. A strict quarantine of other families that have been invaded by the disease is now being maintained.
