OBITUARIES

Levi E. Whitson was born Sept. 16, 1870 at Miles, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Whitson. He moved to Maquoketa at the age of 14 and had made his home here. He was never married.

On Feb. 16, 1950, he entered the Henningsen Nursing home and a year later, Feb. 16, 1951, was taken to Jackson county hospital where he died on Feb. 19.

He is survived by two sisters, Lydia Whitson of Maquoketa and Mrs. Katie Eaton of Chico, Calif., and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by three sisters, Mary Whitson and Mrs. Lucy Riggs of Maquoketa, Mrs. Hattie Reihman of Chicago and a brother, David Whitson of Maquoketa.

Funeral service was held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 21, in the Harrison funeral home with Capt. Keil of the Cedar Rapids Salvation Army in charge. Burial was made in Mt. Hope cemetery.

Pallbearers were Stuart, Dan, Glenn and Bert Sherman, Gilbert Riggs and Henry Bruns.
