Death From Sunstroke.
Robert Brown, Jr., died at his residence in this city(Sabula), last Saturday evening about 9 p.m., from sunstroke. Mr. Brown had been to Savanna on business, and desiring to return home as soon as possible, took a skiff and rowed himself over. When nearing this shore he was observed to act somewhat strangely, and it was with difficulty that he got out of the boat. He staggered up the bank and across the street to his residence, on entering which, he fell to the floor in an unconscious state. The family did not realize his terrible condition, and hours flew by before medical aid was summoned, and then it was too late. The efforts of kindly hands and the best of skill were of no avail, and gradually poor Robert sank until death closed the scene at the hour above stated. The deceased was a native of England, coming to this country with his parents when quite young. At the time of his death, was 34 years old. He was a resident of Sabula from boyhood, and was ever considered a hard working, industrious young man, and was in the employ of the railroad company as a night watchman of the transfer boat, when stricken down. In the discharge of his duties to those employing him, he was always strict and faithful- and none among the numbers are found to speak ill of Robert. He leaves a wife and five small children and a widowed mother, to mourn his loss. He was buried from his late residence on Sunday; Rev. W. B. Frazelle officiating, and his remains were deposited in Evergreen Cemetery, in the presence of a large number of relatives, friends, and neighbors. (Sabula Gazette, July 20, 1878.)
