JOHN C. BURMAHL DIES WEDNESDAY

Funeral service for John C. Burmahl, who died at his home Wednesday, was held at Salem Lutheran church at Spragueville at 2 p.m. Friday. The Rev. Phillip Mueller officiated. Interment was in the Lutheran cemetery at Spragueville.

John C. Burmahl, son of Louis Burmahl and Dorothy Heiden Burmahl, was born April 10, 1881, in Fairfield township. He was baptized in infancy and confirmed at the age of fourteen in the Lutheran faith. He was united in marriage to Etta Mohr Dec. 6, 1908. To this union one daughter, Dorothy, was born.

Mr. Burmahl was engaged in farming all of his life and purchased the Henry Haylock farm east of Maquoketa when he married and lived there until 1946 when he retired and moved to Preston.

He was a member of the Lutheran Brotherhood and a member of the church council and very active in church work.

Survivors are his wife and daughter, one sister, Mrs. Bertha Ringen of Miles; two brothers, Henry of Maquoketa and August of Preston, and several nieces and nephews.
