E. W. MITCHELL DIES SUDDENLY

Edwin W. Mitchell, better known to the people of this city as Dick, died this morning at his home on East Apple street after a brief illness of only a few hours. He was taken very ill about one o'clock and called to his wife who administered various remedies and brought temporary relief. He decided to return to his bed and went upstairs, but before reaching the bed he fell on the floor in an unconscious condition. Mrs. Mitchell immediately summoned a neighbor, Gene Sears, and by his assistance the stricken man was put into his bed. Although they labored untiringly to bring relief he passed away at four o'clock.

Edwin W. Mitchell, son of James and Harriet Binns Mitchell was born at Pinhook near Maquoketa, January 30, 1884, and has always been a resident of this county. He was married to Alice Carrighan, Aug. 17, 1906, at Maquoketa and they were the parents of three children, Mrs. Harriett Reiter of Maquoketa, James and Wilma Jane at home, who with the wife and mother are left to mourn his untimely death. He is also survived by two sisters, Mrs. Clara Lerch of Missoula, Montana and Mrs. Nettie Miller of this city. A brother, Charles was killed in a railway accident in 1909 and his parents died six years ago.

As we go to press the funeral arrangements have not been completed.
