Last Rites for Wylie Morehead Held SaturdayPeople of this city were deeply grieved to hear of the passing of Wylie Morehead, late Thursday forenoon. Mr. Morehead had resided in this community his entire life and was well known and well liked by every one. Mr. Morehead had not been in the best of health for about two months, but had only recently decided to give up his work at the Iowa Electric Company. His death came as a shock to his family and friends, they little suspecting the seriousness of his condition, so well did he carry on his daily tasks.
Wylie Morehead, oldest son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Atwood Morehead, was born near Iron Hill, Ia., August 3, 1878 and passed away January 29, 1931, at his home on S. Olive street, Maquoketa, aged 52 years, five months and 26 days.
January 12, 1905 he was united in marriage to Nora Johnson. Besides the sorrowing wife, he leaves to mourn, five sons, namely Vaden, Merlin, Galen and Clifford at home and Ralph of Elwood. Also four sisters, Mrs. Cora Miller and Mrs. Nellie Roush of Esgate, Mrs. Ruth Hute of Iron Hill, and Mrs. Adah Kehn of Delmar, and one brother, Clarence of Maquoketa.
His father and mother and two sisters preceded him in death during the past year.
During the past few years Mr. Morehead has been an employee of the Iowa electric company of Maquoketa, until the past few weeks when he was forced to give up his position because of ill health. He was known to all as a person with a cheerful disposition, a loving father and a faithful friend.
The funeral service was held Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the Methodist church with the Rev. H. H. Dill officiating. Burial was made in Mt. Hope cemetery.
