Obituary of E. N. RoushE. N. Roush was born in Franklin county, Indiana, Feb. 16, 1851, and departed this life Nov. 25, 1924, at his home in Maquoketa, Iowa. He was married Oct. 2, 1871, to Mary E. Welch who passed away June 1, 1915. Unto this union were born eight children, three dying in infancy, and one daughter, Elvia, passed away May 9, 1917.
There are left to mourn his departure four children, two sons and two daughters: Elmer of Maquoketa, Eugene on the home farm near Esgate, Edna of Rock Island and Susie at home. He also leaves eight grandchildren.
Mr. Roush was left an orphan when a small child, his mother passing away when he was three years of age, and his father when he was ten years old. He was a member of the I. O. O. F. lodge at Fulton for about 42 years and also belonged to the camp at Maquoketa.
Mr. Roush was a good husband and father, and a kind neighbor, always lending a hand in time of need.
Besides the children and grandchildren, he leaves one aunt, Mrs. Maria Taylor of Kansas City.
The remains were taken from the Harrison undertaking parlors to Esgate Friday, where the funeral service was preached by Elder John Heide of Fulton, and were laid to rest in the Esgate cemetery.
The I. O. O. F., both of Fulton and Maquoketa, were present in a body and performed their usual rituals.
