PFC William F. Kuhlman Services Sunday; Dies In Korean War.
Funeral services for PFC William F. Kuhlman, son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred C. Kuhlman of Maquoketa, the first Jackson County serviceman to die in the Korean War, will be held Sunday afternoon. A prayer service will be held at 1:30 P.M. in the family home, followed by services at 2:00 P.M. in First Lutheran Church. The Rev. Harold C. Kumpf, pastor, will officiate. Military honors will be accorded by ceremonial squads from the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Interment will be made in Mt. Hope Cemetery. PFC Kuhlman, who died March 31(1953), in a Tokyo Army Hospital of wounds he incurred in action March 17, was returned to the states last week. His remains arrived at the Haylock-O'Hara Funeral Home Friday evening from Oakland, California. A rifleman in the Ninth Infantry Regiment's Company L, he had been in Korea since last October. The day before he was wounded he had graduated from a non-commissioned officer's school.
The son of Fred and Emma Schnoor Kuhlman, PFC Kuhlman was born January 10, 1933, in Maquoketa. He attended local schools and was a member of the National Guard before he enlisted in the regular army in April of 1952. In addition to his parents, he is survived by one sister, Mrs. Robert(Algene) Nowachek of Wyoming, and two brothers, Jack and Clayton, both of Maquoketa. (Jackson Sentinel, April 24, 1953.)

Final Tribute To PFC Wm. F. Kuhlman.
Relatives, friends and service veterans paid an impressive final tribute to PFC William F. Kuhlman in last rites Sunday afternoon at Maquoketa's First Lutheran Church. Military committal rites were held at Mt. Hope Cemetery. Color guards of the Timber City Legion Post and the O'Connor-Regenwether post of the Veterans of Foreign Wars presented arms as the flag draped coffin was carried from the church. Pall bearers were John Hill, James Weasmer, Dale Breeden, Donald Schnoor, Thomas Frandsen and Ronald Mayberry. More than 400 persons attended the funeral. (Jackson Sentinel, May 1, 1953.)
