ONE OF OUR MOST HONORED CITIZENS LAID TO REST
It did not seem the time for N. J. Rankin to leave us; the day seemed out of tune with the hopes that had been entertained by a city and community which planned to have him companion with us for years; the hour seemed untimely for the passing of a citizen, unburdened with old age, and blest with usefulness. But however well planned our schedule of life may have been, the Maker again proved the dictator of our destinies, and saw fit to call an universal friend to his reward.
To be sorely missed is greatness and as we hurry along our busy ways, there are few indeed who will not recall the friendly greeting, the warmhearted word and the jovial salutation of N. J. Rankin. The brighter side was the one he always sought, the better things for his fellowman were those he always craved, and it is little wonder then we feel his death as untimely and fail to understand. He carried those priciple of brotherhood, so widely taught in the fraternities to which he belonged, into his home, his business and social life; Mr. Rankin practiced the ethics of manhood, and his life was an example of industry, honesty and integrity. He loved his home and all that pertained thereto, and as the loved ones will sorely miss a devoted husband, father and grandpa, their sorrow is shared by an entire city and community who will hold his memory as a sacred trust.
DEATH DATE: Date was not included in article, but by it's position in the scrap book April 1925 seems most likely.
