BIG SPRING, Texas — Donald Kaufman, 84, of Big Spring and formerly of Sabula, died May 3 in Tucson, Ariz.
He was born Nov. 21, 1922, in Carroll County, Ill., to Vern and Cora Lotz Kaufman. He married Unice Schroeder on Sept. 18, 1949, at the Methodist church in Sabula.
He attended high school for two years in Savanna, Ill. He graduated from Thomson (Ill.) High School and the University of Illinois.
He served in the U.S. Air Force and was stationed in Texas.
During the 1950s, he was an executive with Clinton Engines, Maquoketa. At one time, he was mayor of Sabula.
After retiring, he lived in Phoenix and Sabula before moving to Big Spring.
He was a member of Irvine University Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Richard (Dottie) of Norman, Okla., and Donald (Jackie) Jr. of Altoona; four grandchildren; and one brother, Earl (Dorothy) Kaufman of Morrison, Ill.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.
