OBITUARY OF LEO McGIFFNEY
The body of Leo McGiffney who passed away October 20 at La Mesa, Calif., arrived in this city Monday for burial.
Leo McGaffney, son of Mr. and Mrs. James McGaffney, was born August 7, 1902, and resided for many years in this city. While in high school he enlisted in the army and spent several months in training, but becasue of poor health was discharged. After returning home, he again entered high school but in January 1922 was compelled to give up his school work because his health was rapidly failing. He entered the hospital in Dubuque for treatments where he remained for several months and then went to California where he passed away in a government hospital October 20.
He is survived by his parents, two brothers, Joe of Philadelphia and Charles of La Mesa, Calif., two sisters, Kathleen of La Mesa and Marie who is a nurse in Davenport. One brother, Fay, preceded him in death in June 1924.
Funeral service was held at 9:30 this morning at the Sacred heart church, Rev. L. P. Craney officiating. Burial was made in the Catholic cemetery.
