DEATH OF CHARLEY RINGLEP
Chalres Ringlep, a very successful businessman of this city for many years, passed away Wednesday morning, June 10 (1925), following a week's illness, when his suffering was intense but was borne with great patience. About a year ago he suffered a severe attack of the flu from which he did not entirely recover, and during the past winter he was the victim of another severe siege. His health rapidly failed since that time, until last Thursday he was taken seriously ill and was removed to City Memorial hospital where the best of care and medical aid was received but the suffering could not be relieved and he passed away on Wednesday.
Charles Ringlep was born in Sandusky, Ohio, March 6, 1855 and with his parents came to Iowa in 1856 and since that time has resided in Maquoketa. When a boy he learned the harnessmaker's trade and worked at this trade until 1879, when he went to work in a hardware store and continued at this work until 1917 when he retired from business, having sold his interest in Ringlep hardware store to Ben Jacobsen.
He has been very active in the up-building of the city, being one of the most interested workers when the city first started the paving movement and the first brick pavement was laid. He also served four terms as member of the city council.
He is survived by three sisters, Mrs. Lucy Livingston of Edna, Kansas; Mrs. Jake Penrose and Mrs. Will Ringlep with whom he made his home and one brother, Adam Ringlep, also of this city.
Funeral services will be held at the home on N. Decker street Friday at 2 p.m., conducted by Mrs. Frank Keeney, reader of the First Church of Christ, Scientist, and burial will be made in Mt. Hope cemetery.
