OBITUARY OF R. H. BUCHNER
Robert Harmon Buchner, life long resident of Jackson county, suddenly passed away at his home in Maquoketa at three o'clock Saturday from a stroke of paralysis.
The deceased was born near Crabbtown, Ia., Dec. 20, 1852 and was united in marriage to Enna Elizabeth Doty Sept. 6, 1873. To this union were born seven children, four died in infancy and the daughter, Frances passed away in 1910 and the wife and mother October 17, 1921.
Surviving are one son and one daughter, Claude L. Buchner of Maquoketa, Mrs. Harry Lapham of Baldwin, Iowa. One sister, Mrs. Susie Bailor of Spokane, Wash., four grandsons, Dale and Fay Harris of Rockford, Ill.; Llewellyn Ridderhop of Chicago, Virtus Ridderhof of Baldwin; five great-grandchildren and numerous nieces adn nephews.
He was the last of the six pioneer Buchner brothers. Twenty-five years of his married life was spent on the old home place near Long Grove, where he followed the carpenter trade, later buying a mercatile business in Canton, Iowa, moving to Maquoketa about twelve years ago.
Friends and neighbors always found him a kind and sympathetic neighbor, ever ready and willing to give bountifully of his sympathy and aid.
Funeral services were held from the Buchner chapel, Rev. Worcester officiating. Interment in Mt. Hope.
