The funeral will be at 11 a.m., Saturday in United Methodist Church, Maquoketa, for Mrs. Carl (Pearl) Engel, 87, of 313 S. Niagara, who died Tuesday in Crestridge Nursing Home.
The Rev. Richard Eis will officiate. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday in Carson Funeral Home. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Robert Engel, Harvey Frandsen, Mark and Ronald Bruns, Alan Meyer and Kevin Burns.
Mrs. Engel was born July 2, 1901, in Arlington, Iowa, to John and Elizabeth Beck Wurster. She married Carl Engel, Feb. 25, 1926 in Maquoketa. Prior to her marriage, she taught school in rural Maquoketa and Andrew. Mrs. Engel was a member of United Methodist Church, the church Esther Circle, and the Maquoketa Township Homemakers.
Survivors include her husband; a son, J. C., of Maquoketa; and three grandsons.
She was preceded in death by a brother and two sisters.
