JOHN WURSTER
John Wurster age 83 years passed away Sunday evening, Nov. 29 at his home in this city.
John Wurster son of Andrew and Margaret Speckman Wurster was born Oct. 28, 1870, near Maquoketa.
On July 26, 1899 he was married to Elizabeth Beck at Maquoketa. Their home was established on a farm near Arlington, Iowa for 5 years.
They later moved to a farm near Maquoketa where they farmed until three years ago, when they retired and became residents of this city.
Surviving are two daughters and one son, Mrs. Pearl Engel, Mrs. Alice Allison and Howard all of Maquoketa, also three grandchildren, Phyllis Allison, J. C. Engel and Mrs. Marilyn Frandsen. One brother Chris of Cedar Falls, three half sisters, Mrs. Minnie Hurst of Maquoketa, Mrs. Lyman Meyer of Clinton, Mrs. Lena Sternberg of Davenport and one half-brother Otto of near Maquoketa.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, Dec. 2, at Carson funeral home. The Rev. Milton Nothdurft, pastor of First Methodist Church officiated. Casket bearers were Albert Wurster, Martin Wurster, Raymond Laffey, Wm. Holtz, all of Maquoketa, Wm. Wurster of Elwood and Albert Wurster of Waterloo.
People attending from a distance were Fred Moeller, Marion, Mrs. Dora Boyle, Chicago, Albert Wurster, Waterloo, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Coffin, Monmouth, Mrs. Dennis Lawrence, Andover, Mr. and Mrs. C. S. Wurster, Stockton, Ill., John Wurster, Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Wurster, Mrs. Glen Wurster and Fred Huttenlocker of Savanna, Ill.
