DAVENPORT — Kevin R. Rittmer, 49, of Davenport and formerly of Andrew, died Friday at Genesis Medical Center, West Campus, Davenport.

Cremation rites will be accorded. Burial will be in Andrew Cemetery.

He was born Sept. 17, 1957, in Clinton to Ronald and Dessel Miller Rittmer.

He was a 1975 graduate of Andrew High School. He then received a certificate of automotive training from Foster Estes Area Vocational College, Oklahoma City, in 1976. In 1979, he received his automotive mechanics diploma from Scott Community College, Bettendorf; and in 1991 he received his associate’s degree in business management from the American Institute of Commerce. In June, he received his certificate as a master automobile technician in Herndon, Va.

He worked as a master mechanic for a number of Quad-City area dealerships. For the past five years, he worked with J.R.B. Co., Davenport, as a retrofitting installation specialist.

He was a volunteer at the Niabi Zoo, Coal Valley, Ill.

Survivors include his mother, Dessel Rittmer of Maquoketa; one sister, Diane Loney of Dubuque; one brother, Dave Rittmer of Mount Vernon; one niece; and two great-nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Niabi Zoo.

He was preceded in death by his father and three nephews.
