Howard B. Grossman, age 93, of Preston, Iowa, passed away on Wednesday, September 27, 2006 at Bluff Terrace Nursing Facility, Clinton, Iowa. A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, October 2, 2006 at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Preston, Iowa. Reverend Gregory Geier will officiate. Burial will be in the Preston Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m., Sunday, October 1 at the St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Preston, Iowa. A general memorial fund had been established in Howard’s name.

Howard was born on September 5, 1913, the son of Herman and Christine Grossman. He was raised in the Sabula area and later graduated from Sabula High School. Howard married Gladys Simmons on February 28, 1936 in Clinton County. Gladys passed away in 1998.

Howard farmed throughout his entire life in the Preston area; he also worked for Clinton Engines, Jackson County Secondary Road Commission, and was also a School Bus Driver for the Preston School District.

Howard was a long time member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church. He was also a former member of the Preston Saddle Club and a past board member for the Preston Cemetery. Howard enjoyed camping and visiting with friends. Howard loved spending time with his family most of all.

Howard is survived by one son, Ives (Bonnie) Grossman of Preston, Iowa; three granddaughters Kris (Jeff) Paulsen of Preston, Janet (Bill) Yaddof of Preston and Karen (Kevin) Krogman of Bryant, Iowa; eight great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and one sister Edith Whitridge of Springdale, Arkansas.

Howard is preceded in death by his parents; his wife Gladys; one brother Eugene Grossman, and one sister Dorothea Grams.
