ANDREW — Robert S. Sears, 78, of Andrew, died Saturday at Jackson County Regional Health Center, Maquoketa.

Burial will be in Andrew Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Reese Berry, Robert Muller, Grant and Garrett Grosskruger and Michael and Kimbel Hemmingson.

He was born Jan. 20, 1928, in rural Cambridge, Ill., to Frank and Ruby Armstrong Sears. He married Carol Nelson on March 19, 1950, in Cambridge.

He graduated from Geneseo (Ill.) High School in 1945.

He farmed for many years in Illinois and Iowa before retiring in 1994.

He was a member of First United Methodist Church, Maquoketa, Cambridge Masonic Lodge 49, Maquoketa Masonic Lodge Helion 36 and Jackson County Historical Society.

Survivors include his wife; five daughters, Paula Sears (Mike Suttle) of Albuquerque, N.M., Cynthia (Tom) Wilson of Dahinda, Ill., Tina (Brian) Schieferdecker of Cambridge, Myrna (Mark) Grosskruger of Andrew and Maria Zulma Cardona of LaJolla, Calif.; one son, Steven (Heather) Sears of Yorktown, Va.; 15 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Barbara (Shortie) Miller of Silvis, Ill., and Susie (Dick) Crain of Indian Head Park, Ill.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Maquoketa First United Methodist Church or Jackson County Historical Society.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one son and one grandchild.
