Richard D. German Obituary
Jackson Sentinel, Maquoketa, Iowa
19 Feb 1903

GERMAN – Richard D. German, well known to many of our older citizens, died in Des Moines, [IA], Feb. 3rd, and was buried from his late home there Feb. 8th. June 28th, 1901, he had a paralytic stroke from which he never rallied, He was born in St. Thomas, Canada, July 13, 1835, and, in 1863, came to Chicago [IL]. From there, he came to Lyons [Clinton Co., IA] and about 1867 came to Maquoketa [IA, and in 1893 left this city for Des Moines [IA] where he resided until his death. His avocation was that of a stock buyer and shipper. He was a congenial, kind-hearted man with many friends here. Funeral services were conducted by Dr. Marshall of the Presbyterian church of Des Moines. The survivors left to mourn his death are his wife, sons Scott of Newark, N.J.; Bert of Freemont, Ohio; Fred and daughter, Lizzie of Des Moines, who were all present at the funeral.
