FORMER ARMORY RAZED

George McDonald, the buyer and wrecker of buildings, has a crew of men tearing down the old armory on North Niagara Street in Maquoketa, which has stood the tests of time since the early 1880's. This landmark was built by the late George T. Bradley and for a number of years was used as a roller skating rink during the time when roller skating was very popular.

It was subsequently used as a carriage repository and later as an armory by Company M, 49th Iowa Infantry, Iowa National Guard. The past few years the building has been used by the Doran Motor Company as a storeroom for used cars and as temporary housing for new Ford cars. Mr. McDonald tells us that he will reduce the structure to lumber and remove it to his lumber yards on North Main Street.
