June Vows Said
The wedding of Melvin L. Kelchner and Dorothy M. Kelchner, both of Maquoketa was held at noon on Saturday, June 16 in the United Methodist Church of Maquoketa. The double ring ceremony was performed by Rev. Delbert Dawes.
Attendees were Mr. and Mrs. Dale A. Scott Jr of near Fulton, who served as best man and matron of honor. Their son, “Scotty”, was ring bearer and their daughter, Amber was also present. Mrs. Scott is the daughter of the bride and a niece of the groom.
A wedding reception was held from 2 to 5 PM in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Clayton Turner in Maquoketa. Relatives and friends from Andrew, Davenport, Fulton and Maquoketa attended. The hostess is a sister of Mrs. Kelchner. A wedding cake baked and decorated by the Bill Wells family was a special wedding gift.
Mrs. Kelchner is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A. C. Bolte of near Andrew. Mr. Kelchner is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Ross Kelchner of Maquoketa and until the past year had made his home in Mechanicsville, VA. The couple is residing at 504 South Eliza, Maquoketa.Note: This is from an original clipping from my Grandmother, Alice Keeley Mummert. There was no date on the clipping.
