DISCOVERY OF LEAD-

Indications of lead have lately been discovered at Ozark, in Jackson County, about 25 miles south of Dubuque, which promise well. Pieces of lead ore have been frequently picked up in a particular locality on the line of the property of James Ryan and Michael Kelly, which were washed out of the bluff, and some fine specimens have been found which in the opinion of old miners to whom they have been shown, indicate rich deposits. It has been reported for years that there was lead in that section, and a lot of smelter’s tools found in a cave there at an early day, having belonged to the Indians, tended to confirm the opinion. Some experienced men have already gone down to prospect, and little doubt is felt that some rich developments will be made.
