ATTEMPTED SAFE BLOWING

An attempt was made last Thursday night to blow open the vault door of the Bank of Bellevue. Friday morning both the outside doors of the bank were standing open. Benjamin Seaward was notified and found a complete set of burglar’s tools in the bank near the vault door. The “blowers” had evidently become frightened and had fled, leaving their work uncompleted and their tools behind them. They had knocked the knob off the vault door and had begun drilling a hole in the rivet of the knob. They entered the building through the front door by prying it open with chisels and bar. The kit of tools consisted of numerous drills, bits, chisels, braces, jimmies, bars, primers, fuse and two flasks of powder, all in a new valise. No clue to the would be robbers has been obtained.
