CITY ATTORNEY RESIGNS POST; DEPLORES "WASTE"
Walter J. McCarthy, who Monday night left the city council chambers after he declared "I'm through right now" as city attorney, formally presented his resignation in writing at a special council session Wednesday.
"In accordance with my oral expression," McCarthy stated in his communication, read by Mayor Lanvil Moler, "I resign as city solicitor." McCarthy had held that position since April of 1951.
The council received his resignation and placed it on file. McCarthy's resignation was later accepted by a unanimous vote.
