Methodist Episcopal Church

The new Methodist Episcopal Church is now enclosed and is by far the handsomest building ever erected in Maquoketa. It was a big undertaking for the society to shoulder such a load and we don’t believe any other minister except Mr. Manning could have successfully carried it through. He was, however, ably and earnestly seconded by the Building Committee composed of Dr. Truax, O. W. Joiner, W. M. Stephens and Thomas Trout, and to their united efforts we are indebted for a building that will long be the pride of our town. It will be formally dedicated about the first of December, when it is hoped and believed the indebtedness will be almost if not entirely wiped out.
