Jackson Sentinel, June 17, 1885.

SENATOR COTTON

Now that Senator Cotton who has misrepresented Clinton County in our state legislature for a term must walk the plank. Hon. A. R. McCoy, of Clinton, comes prominently to the front as a desirable man to send down to Des Moines to fight the Prohibitionists. Mr. McCoy is a man of ability, integrity and straight Democratic principles, whom the Sentinel would cheerfully urge its Clinton county readers to support. For four years Mr. Cotton has voted and worked with the Prohibitionists in the Senate when the people of his county by over 2,000 majority declared they were opposed to prohibition.
