JUDICIAL GERRYMANDERING
A scheme is on foot at Des Moines to make a judicial gerrymander, which would make a great change in this district. It would attach this county to Dubuque, take Muscatine from the district and make a judicial district composed of Clinton and Scott. To this the people of Jackson County are opposed as a body, regardless of politics. The judicial district was organized as it now is in 1858, and points with pride to its judges and the manner they have conducted the official business of the district, and we are reliably informed that the entire district concurs with the sentiment of the people of Jackson in opposing any change.
