Dubuque Weekly Times, July 11, 1861.

The Fourth at Zwingle.

There was a large gathering on the 4th at Zwingle, in this county. The Declaration was read by A. J. Lewellen. Speeches were made after dinner by Daniel Cort, J. C. Wallace, J. A. House, and A. J. Lewellen. John T. Lovell was called upon after Mr. Lewellen had closed his speech, and after speaking a short time he said that no power on earth, in heaven or hell, could make him take up arms against his brethren in Virginia. At this he was immediately silenced. We have some very bold rebels in this county.
