THE DEMOCRATIC CANDIDATES.

We wish briefly to glance at the qualifications of the democratic candidate for county offices.

1st County Judge.
FREDERICK BANGS, ESQ,
is the nominee for this office. Mr. Bangs is a lawyer of talent, integrity, and unflinching democracy.

He is well known for his industry and practical business habits. He has served the county repeatedly in the capacity of Prosecuting Attorney in which station he won for himself reputation as an efficient and able officer. He is well and thoroughly versed in the business of the office, and if elected will discharge its duties with capacity and untiring industry

2nd Sheriff
MR. PIERCE MITCHELL,
of Maquoketa, is the nominee for Sheriff. Mr. Mitchell has not before been before the people of Jackson county as a candidate for office. He is not consequently, perhaps so well known in some parts of the county as his competitor. – But we speak what we know, when we say that Mr. M. is not only well & thoroughly qualified for the office, but is as a citizen and a democrat, a man of most undoubted probity and integrity. He is a thorough business man as his success in the mercantile business can attest. Mr. Mitchell’s private character is without spot or blemish, in fact not a word can be said against him either politically, or otherwise, He will make a capable and efficient Sheriff.

3rd Recorder.
MR. GEO. SCARBOROUGH,
the nominee for Recorder is a brother of Col. F. Scarborough Clerk of the District Court, - is an old resident of the county – well known to the people – and is well qualified for the office. Mr. Scarborough was formerly a member of the Illinois Legislature, and in political and moral integrity, stands unquestioned.

If he is elected he will perform the duties of the office himself.

4th Road Supervisor.
The nominee is
WM. KIESTER. ESQ.,
of Bellevue Township. Mr. Kiester is a thorough and enterprising farmer- well known to the people of the county. His character as a man cannot be questioned. He is one of the most unbending and unflinching democrats of the State. With a very large share of energy, he will if elected make a very efficient public officer and discharge his duty in strict accordance with the law.

5th Surveyor
MR. H. LINDSEY,
the nominee is a practical Surveyor, thoroughly acquainted with the business. Mr. L. is a man of probity and integrity and of most excellent character. He was for several years Co. Surveyor of one of the largest counties in the State of Ohio. We can honestly say that if elected, he will perform the duties of the office to the satisfaction of his constituents.

6th Coroner
COL. W. P. JOHNSON,
is too well and too long known to the people to need aught said in his favor by us. The duties of Coroner will be faithfully discharged by him, should the people honor him with the office. Such a result we cannot doubt, in relation to both one and all.
