S. L. Baker’s steam launch arrived last Friday morning and was immediately launched. In the afternoon her shrill whistle attracted many to the levee to see her make her first trip on the Father of Waters. The little vessel is 18 feet long and five feet wide, is elegantly fitted with cushioned seats, and can carry 12 or 14 people. She has a Shipman Boiler and engine of one horse power, and a 12-inch propeller. “Glen Ellyn” is the name which appears at her bow. Chas. Hinman will take out engineer’s and pilot’s papers, and will be founding the pilot house and engine-room of the “Glen Ellyn.”
