Mayor Myatt Appoints Mrs. Wright

Mrs. Barbara Wright, Fifth Ward Councilwoman, was appointed mayor pro tem, by Maquoketa mayor Ed Myatt Monday night Jan. 7.

“I want to treat all the fellows the same, I’m making Mrs. Wright mayor pro tem,” Myatt said in making the announcement.

Mrs. Wright was elected in 1971 to the Fifth Ward post and was re-elected, with no opposition last November. She and all of the council members had to stand for re-election because of state law requiring new elections following reapportionment of the city’s wards.

Myatt’s other appointments at the first meeting of 1974 included Ed Tubbs, city treasurer; J. E. Goodenow, city attorney and Dr. Clifford Rask, city medical officer.
