March 6, 1884Married.
HOLTZ-RENCH – At the residence of the groom’s 5 miles east of this city on Wednesday afternoon, 2:30 o’clock Feb. 27, 1884, by Rev. Rembold of Andrew, Mr. Louis Holtz to Miss Katie Rench.
A large number of presents were showered upon the happy pair and music and dancing gave the large wedding party a round of amusement that did not cease till the “we sma’ hours” of Thursday morning.
JONES-DEAN – At Omaha, Feb. 28, 1884, Mr. J. F. Jones and Miss Etta Dean.
Miss Dean was well known as a teacher throughout Jackson county, until the past two years, when she left her home and friends and among strangers she took her station with the first teachers of Fremont county, and has won the respect and confidence of all with whom she has associated. In her departure Fremont county loses one of the most devoted and accomplished teachers. Mr. Jones is an attorney, of Calliope, Iowa; who has been practicing at that place since 1882, and has been successful in his profession and we expect to see him in the future pleading as one at the head of the bar. The happy couple will make Calliope their future home. We wish them a happy, successful and prosperous future.
HASTINGS-McGUIRE - By Rev. Flatherman, in Davenport, on Tuesday, Feb’y. 26, 1884, Mr. Lewis Hastings, of this city, to Miss Maggie McGuire, of DeWitt.
Lew. Hastings is that steady, good-natured fireman who holds a posish on the run between Maquoketa and Davenport. The newly married take up a residence in Maquoketa.
